The Road That Leads You Home
Leaving church one Sunday I put on my Global Postioning System, better known as GPS. I knew the route by heart but wanted to make sure I would arrive home in a timely manner. On this particular day, it decided to take me on a route I had never been on before and I was thrown into making a decision. Do I go the way I think I need to go or shoud I trust my GPS? I decided to put my trust in the GPS.
While driving I had a few thoughts...I've been driving this route for a while now..why would the GPS ask me to go down a path I didn't know or was comfortable with? Why not just alter it a little bit instead of completely. I continued to drive the route recommended, looking at unfamiliar surrounding and making strange turns.
The GPS does this thing where it tells you vaguely where you're headed but when it's time for you to make a turn, it waits until you are right at the place you need to go before it makes the command....It feels alot like driving with your eyes closed. There were pot holes in the road, red lights, cars that looked like they would hit me as they merged onto the road, fences on both sides of the highway hiding everything; I couldn't see what was behind them. No time to let that stop me...I was determined to get to where this GPS was taking me. Oblivious to this "new" route that promised to lead me home.
I finally came to a road I recognized and was shocked that the route I had taken led me to that particular road. I had passed that road countless times but never thought twice about actually traveling it. As I turned down the street leading home I realized that now my territory had been enlarged. I had traveled and was now aware of a whole route I had not been privy to before.
Sometimes our "usually" is disrupted and we are taken down a path we would not have chosen, but the disruption may be the very thing God leads us through to sharpen our faith and direction.
When the only thing we have is our faith and trust in Him then we are able to follow where He leads, blindly and intentionally.
There may be potholes, fences, and rough situations all around us, but if we stay focused and listen for His voice to give us our next move we will end up better equipped, have covered more territory, and more knowledgeable about what it takes to get to our destination.
Blessings,
Rashena
