Perception

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 16:13‭-‬19 NIV

Perception. Perception is a complicated thing sometimes. It is defined as the ability to hear, see, or become aware of something through the senses. Lots of times what we perceive and what actually is, can become distorted by accepting someone else's truth over actual truth.

This is apparent in the above paaage. Jesus asked his disciples who did people say that he was and they answered him based on the perception of others. Then, he flipped the question on the disciples and asked who did THEY say he was.

The people saw Jesus based on their senses....perceptions..... but they weren't entirely wrong! Jesus was God in human form so he displayed all of the characteristics that would have been evident in the prophets. However, there was one thing that prevented them from truly know who he was. Being able to recognize and hear the voice of God beyond their perceptions

Simon Peter answered and Jesus replied, "...........Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven....."

Simon answered correctly not based on his perception, but by what God had revealed to him.

Let us purpose today to not live, speak, act, love, treat others, respond, think, based on the perception of others. Their truth may not be THE truth of who our Lord and Savior really is; in this season we need to unequivocally know and be able to stand on the truth of the gospel

Seek the face of Jesus, let Holy Spirit lead you, there is no time like the present. Live in right relationship with God and I can assure you he will reveal to you what is necessary.

Blessings,

Rashena
