Open Our Eyes So We Can Hear
See, Hear, Discern. ~ Rashena T
Open our eyes that we may hear.
I know you are thinking...that's not how it goes, but it is. This morning as I was praying I began to sing those very words.."Open our eyes that we may hear"... I immediately corrected myself and started to sing "Open our ears that we may hear", but that wasn't what Holy Spirit was trying to say to me. It was in fact...Open our eyes so that we may hear.
At this point, I am alert and beginning to believe there is significance in what I feel Holy Spirit is speaking to me. Off I go in search of the correlation between seeing and hearing.
What you see can affect what you hear and vice versa. Although speech is perceived through our ears what we see can change what we hear. Have you ever sang along with a song knowing without a shadow of doubt that you were singing the correct lyrics only to find that after reading the lyrics, you had the song all wrong?
Our senses were not designed to operate individually. They were made to operate in conjunction with each other.
I believe the same applies to our spiritual eyes and ears. If we choose to isolate one or the other, we willingly disable our ability to wisely disern how to prepare our hearts and minds for what's to come in our journeys.
We can not receive concise direction or a clear picture when we use hearing without vision.
Dear ones, like hearing the words of a song without using our vision to read the lyrics written for it, let us not lean on our limited understanding by processing what we see or hear separately. Let us be moved by what we see AND hear in unison.
Ears that hear and eyes that see— the Lord has made them both.
