Better Is Coming
In southern Louisiana we know the term hope for the best prepare for the worst, well. Every year from June 1st through the end of hurricane season, thoughts of the possibility of dreaded hurricanes are ever present.
Sometimes years pass by without a major storm; some years it seems like storms develop every other day.
During those months of elevated awareness, we may make sure we have extra cash and hoard provisions we would not normally keep on hand year-round.
Louisianians do this because storms like Katrina have taught us that when we don't prepare for the worst, the worst can prepare us for our demise.
This brings me to my current thought an realization. In ministry when imparting into the lives of others on any level, preparation is more important than just being gifted.
We can be called or gifted and have no knowledge of who our Father really is, thus damaging the spiritual growth of dear brothers and sisters.
We must learn His ways, thoughts, and follow His direction in order to emanate the essence of who He is.
Let us take the needed time to learn His character and desires for our lives and the lives of the very people we feel called to lead.
Let us be careful not to base our release to minister to others on our callings or gifts alone.
Let us not put our dependence in a calling, but let us actively pursue a true and developed relationship with the God who calls and bestows gifts.
Armor up, learn how to fight, learn the Father's attributes, prepare in advance...it will be much more difficult for "the worst" to bring defeat.
Prepare!
